Especially for educators of grades 4-12

So many diverse books (for young people), not enough time! This summer, let Primary Source help you catch up with the best and brightest world-spanning titles for your teen and middle grade students – and for yourself. In this independent and self-directed learning experience, we invite you to read four recent book-award winners and hear from their authors. Each session features a pre-recorded webinar (courtesy of our colleagues at the World Area Book Awards consortium) and extension materials for classroom connections.  You’ll post your reflections and learn what peer teachers have to say.

Your curated summer reading will include:
The Barefoot Dreams of Petra Luna by Alda Dobbs (historical fiction; grades 7-12; Mexico);

You Bring the Distant Near by Mitali Perkins (cross-generational family saga/romance; grades 7-12; India & US/ Bengali-American);

Hector: A Boy, A Protest, and the Photograph That Changed Apartheid by Adrienne Wright (graphic non-fiction; grades 4-8, South Africa);

and The Night Diary by Veera Hiranandani (family story/historical fiction; grades 4-8, India/Pakistan).

Get out your lawn chair and join this reading adventure!
