Dr. Irvin Hunt
We are excited that Irvin Hunt, Associate Professor of English and African American Studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, will join us to discuss his book, Dreaming the Present: Time, Aesthetics, and the Black Cooperative Movement.
Co-ops are about community building. Join us for a talk on how the remarkable history of black cooperatives shows us how to build community at a time we need it most. Focusing on Ella Baker, and Fannie Lou Hamer, and using rarely before seen archival material–film, music, photographs, and more–Hunt reveals new ways of relating to each other in the wondrous here and now.
