At Primary Source, we believe in the power of understanding the world from diverse perspectives and a future in which all individuals have the skills, knowledge, and empathy to engage with their local and global peers and help solve today’s pressing challenges. Our visionary founders realized that educators are vital to shaping the way children see the world and to understanding their roles as thoughtful and engaged citizens— that to make world and U.S. histories and cultures accessible and exciting to students, they needed to inspire and empower educators. We continue this important work today by providing high-quality, dynamic learning opportunities for K-12 teachers that give them the space to learn and collaborate with their peers and subject experts.

Project Overview

As we, as a society, sharpen our focus on the role of education in understanding the experiences, contributions, and perspectives of African Americans in U.S. history, there has been a growing call for curricula to support accurate, inclusive teaching. Primary Source was primed to fill this need with our Making Freedom: African Americans in U.S. History digital curriculum which will launch at the start of the 24-25 academic year! Role Description

We are seeking one to three educators per state to serve as curriculum ambassadors intermittently over the course of the two-year subscription.

Ambassadors will: 

  • Provide feedback and outreach as part of an initial preview of the new online platform, 
  • Conduct outreach with at least 4 monthly posts on their personal and professional social media accounts (including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter) and LinkedIn). Examples of posts, hashtags, and account handles will be provided.
  • Share endorsements highlighting the content as they utilize it in their classrooms and generally support efforts to grow our network.

Candidates should have at least two public social media platforms, strong writing skills, and attention to detail as a representative of the curriculum and Primary Source.
